![]() Designing the interior space of the new St. Joseph Health Center’s Medical Mall posed a unique challenge. Unlike the philosophy of most traditional medical centers, St. Joseph’s believed that their clients would benefit from a multi-use environment that met not only their healthcare needs, but also provided many of the other resources they would desire while seeking healthcare. The creative challenge was to successfully blend a wide array of retail services into a seamless, aesthetically pleasing environment without sacrificing access to the quality healthcare for which St. Joseph’s is renowned. ![]() Using a blend of traditional and contemporary materials, we were able to create a cohesive experience that made the shopping mall a pleasant place to spend time and “softened” the hospital visit. The four-level mall and outpatient facility consists of: Level One: gift shop, pharmacy, full-service bank, 350-seat international food court, child play area, and access to the hospital, medical office buildings, and chapel. Level Two: main entrance to the medical mall and to outpatient services. Levels Three and Four: physician office space of 1,000,000 square feet. Interior Design.
