Upscale Comfort for Surgery Patients

Interior Design Designer
Our mandate was to produce as close as possible, within the C.O.N. controlled budget, an upscale hospitality look, which the physicians called “the hotel Ritz.” The upscale look is reserved for the patient areas, while the surgical areas maintain a traditional operating appearance, although both Operating Rooms have full walls of windows..

An international feel was achieved with an open maple wood grid entry into the Reception Area, warm maple woods, and Euro hotel style approach for window coverings. The Recovery Room looks like a hotel room, with drapes and bedspread. A juxtaposition of curvilinear free-form design provides a sense of comfort. A warm palette of light and dark maple wood tones was specifically chosen for its natural ambiance. All fabrics in the Recovery Room are inherently fire resistant.

It is a special comfort for patients and their families to be in this de-institutionalized space where the patients are surrounded with service and luxury. For the surgeons and their staffs, having an environment that makes each patient feel special enhances the doctor-patient relationship.
